Our energy bodies aren't static - they shift, flow, twist, move, mix and mingle with all the energies that swirl through the universe - like a dance, but also like a melding.  This can be beautiful - ecstatic - intriguing - and it can also be treacherous.  Energy is exchanged-  Who or What are you dancing with?  What are the flavors of energy that you're allowing to mix with yours?

We've all felt it - that high we get from being around wonderful people who we feel aligned with - an upward spiral, a lighthearted lift, a mutual feeling of empowerment!  And, on the flip side, we've all felt drained, foggy, down or pained after being around people who do not align with us. 

 

Neither energetic dance partner is inherently better or worse than the other, they are just different vibrations.  They carry different flavors in their intentions, hopes, desires, and subtle hums.  It is true that nothing can fundamentally harm the core essence of your BEING-ness, but still, if one wants to live an artful life that opens doorways for their highest possibilities and desires, it's important to be aware that these energies mix.  You never walk away from a dance exactly the same as you walked into it.

Energy is exchanged.  All the time.  The reason we feel certain ways around certain people is, in part, this mysterious but totally real exchange.   If you and your friend have a conversation, and you each have pure intentions to build one another up, you walk away with a little bit of their uplifting energy - fresh energy that you've not experienced before - it integrates with your system, mixes, and becomes part of you.  It glitters with the rest of your localized energy cluster, and gets passed on to whoever or whatever else you may interact with.  The same happens to them.  But if the conversation had, is between you and a person with VERY mis-aligned intentions or very different energy than yours (to keep it simple, maybe they're a serial victim or complainer), the mixing of those flavors leaves them with a little of you - giving them a lift - and you end up with a little bit of them.  Which may bring you down.

You may not realize it straight away, but if you dance with them often, over time, your energy field becomes populated with a whole lot of what was once theirs.  They become more powerful, confident, and even brazen - while you become downtrodden, anxious, a shell of yourself.  This is why we don't pick up dog shit with a bare hand!  Make sure to know how to protect your energy, and when to share it freely.

We're called to shine brightly!  Using intuition to pick aligned dance partners will keep our lampshades shiny and clear, lifting up ourselves and others, and helping the collective to evolve!  This is a delightful thing, and it's how we help the world become more beautiful.  And, dancing with energies that are very mis-aligned to ours, or who want to take some of our good stuff away, can dirty the lampshade.  It's harder for the light to get out.

I'm not saying to hurry and cleanse your aura with sage or crystals.  Though you can certainly do that.  What I am saying, is to have energetic hygiene, and be aware of what you're dancing with.  Learn to feel it in your body.  Learn to pick up first intuitive signals. And ask yourself, "what techniques can I learn so that my energy doesn't become depleted or murky?"

All life is a brilliant dance - let's bust our moves, let's share our light, let's spread love to the collective so we all can evolve!  And, if you are energetically sensitive, be aware of the energies you allow into your sphere.
